Liangzhou

Liang Zhou is one of the five eyots of Xuanwu Lake, covering an area of 8.81 hectares. It was the earliest eyot developed in Xuanwu Lake, once known as Lao Zhou, Jiu Zhou, Zu Zhou, Lianhua Zhou and Mei Zhou. It was the reading place of Prince Zhaoming when he was compiling the "Selected Works". It was also called "Liang Garden". That was where the name "Liangzhou" derived from. This eyot is the leading one of the whole lake. It is the origin of Houhu Achival Repository in the Ming Dynasty. There are a lot of cultural spots on the eyot, including Hushen Temple site, Ming Dynasty Archival Repository Exhibition Hall, Lansheng Building, Wenji Pavilion, Friendship Hall, Jinling Potted Landscape Garden, etc. The annual Xuanwu Lake Chrysanthemum Exhibition is held here, and is known as "Liang Zhou Autumn Chrysanthemum".
